For Missouri House · District 149

Arm in arm we can do this.

Serving others has been my life's work.

I'm John Armbruster, a nurse practitioner from Sikeston. I'm running for State Representative for Mississippi, New Madrid and the northern part of Pemiscot County, because our district has had no vote in the Missouri House for over a year, and the people I see in the exam room can't wait another one.

Election Day is Tuesday, November 3, 2026. Check that you’re registered.

District 149 has had no vote in the Missouri House since August 21, 2025. Rep. Donnie Brown resigned that day to take a job with the highway department, and the governor never called a special election — one of 5 House districts left without a vote. The seat stays empty until someone is sworn in in January 2027. On November 3rd, you fill it.

Why I'm running

I've spent my whole working life taking care of other people.

I'm John Armbruster. I live in Sikeston. I'm 74 years old, and I've spent my whole working life taking care of other people — first as a nursing assistant, then in respiratory therapy, then running a nursing home, then as a registered nurse, and now as a nurse practitioner. I also taught school. My wife Sheila is a nurse practitioner too.

Vote for me, John Armbruster, for State Representative in District 149 on November 3. Thank you and God bless you.

Have you ever had trouble getting in to see a doctor, and waited, felt rushed in the visit, wondering whether you told them everything you wanted to tell them, and then find out the medications were too expensive?

Hi, I'm John Armbruster. I'm a nurse practitioner running for State Representative in District 149: New Madrid, Mississippi, and the northern part of Pemiscot County. I have watched my patients struggle with this for years. I would like to be a help in this district, as I've lived here for over 30 years. I would like to use my expertise to bring better health care in this district.

Vote for me, November 3, John Armbruster, for State Representative, District 149. I would appreciate your support. Thank you and God bless you.

Paid for by John Armbruster, candidate for Missouri State Representative, District 149.

District 149

No one has cast a vote for us since August 2025

Missouri's 149th House District has had no representative since Rep. Donnie Brown resigned on August 21, 2025, and the governor never called a special election. When a hospital in our region was fighting to keep its doors open, and when the school funding formula was argued over, nobody from District 149 was casting a vote.

I've been going to churches and community events all over this district, because that's where people are and that's where you hear the truth about how folks are doing.

That's the kind of thing I want more of in this district — health care that comes to people, instead of people having to figure out how to get to it.

This is a small campaign in a district where money is tight. Five or ten dollars from a lot of neighbors goes further here than a big check from somewhere else.
